The Foundation of Ethics
The Black Code is not a set of rules imposed from above. It is a framework for sovereign individuals who take responsibility for their own choices.
The Nine Precepts
I. The Sovereign Self
You are responsible for your own self. You are not responsible for the salvation of others.
II. Do No Harm
Harm others only in defence of self or in pursuit of legitimate goals.
III. Consent is Sacred
All exchange must be based on clear consent. Consent obtained through manipulation is not consent.
IV. The Body is Sovereign
Your body belongs to you. No one has the right to use it without your permission.
V. Honesty in Exchange
Do not take what is not freely given. Deception in exchange is theft.
VI. The Right to Say No
You may refuse any request for any reason. "No" is a complete sentence.
VII. Power with Responsibility
As you gain power, you gain responsibility. Power without wisdom becomes abuse.
VIII. The Pursuit of Excellence
Strive always for mastery — of self, of craft, of consciousness.
IX. The Work Continues
There is no arrival. There is only practice. The work is never complete.
