Frequently Asked Questions
What is Satanism?
Satanism is a philosophical and religious tradition that recognises the individual as sovereign. It is not the worship of evil, but the embrace of the complete self — including the shadow. The South African Satanic Church traces its lineage to pre-Christian traditions, not to modern anti-Christian movements.
Is Satanism the opposite of Christianity?
No. Satanism is not defined by opposition to Christianity or any other religion. We are not reactionaries — we are a continuation of ancient wisdom that predates the Abrahamic traditions by millennia.
Do you worship the devil?
No. Satan is a symbol — of rebellion, of individual sovereignty, of the refusal to submit to external authority. We do not believe in the devil as a literal being.
Is Satanism evil?
No. Satanism does not advocate harming others. Our ethical framework — the Black Code — is based on individual sovereignty and the principle of “do no harm.” We believe in personal responsibility, not moral relativism run amok.
What is the Shadow Path?
The Shadow Path is our philosophical tradition — a non-dual tantrik path that recognises the divine not in transcendence, but in full embodiment within the material world.
What are the Five Pillars?
The Five Pillars are the foundation of our practice:
- Life — Celebration of vitality
- Love — Compersion, joy in another’s joy
- Sex — S.E.X., Sacred Energetic Exchange
- Nature — Ecological reverence
- Power — Cultivation of capacity
What is S.E.X.?
S.E.X. stands for Sacred Energetic eXchange. It is the highest ritual — the union of opposites through which the divine becomes manifest. This is not mere sexuality, but the deliberate transmutation of energy through conscious connection.
What is the Apeiron?
The Apeiron is the boundless potential from which all things emerge. It is the void that contains all possibility — the ground of being that precedes all manifestation.
What is the Crucible?
The Crucible is the chosen vessel of intensity where transformation occurs. It is not comfortable. It is not safe. It is where you become who you were meant to be.
How do I join?
Contact the Church through our official channels. Our membership process includes an introductory period to determine fit. We are not interested in converts — we are interested in those who are already seeking.
Are you a cult?
No. We do not isolate members from family. We do not demand all your money. We do not break down your identity to rebuild it in our image. We offer a path. You walk it. You remain sovereign.
What do you believe about death?
Death is transformation, not ending. We do not fear death — we recognise it as the ultimate nucleation, the final collapse of potential into form.
Can I practice Satanism and another religion?
That is a personal decision. The Shadow Path teaches that genuine commitment requires investigation. If you find meaning in another tradition, follow it fully. Do not dilute your path with borrowed symbols.
